The Kiwanis Clubs of Quincy (Noon, Gem City & Golden K) have a long and storied history of “serving the children of the world”, especially assisting those kids who live in our community. In 2015 our Kiwanis Clubs wanted to celebrate Kiwanis International’s 100th birthday by presenting Quincy with a special gift which would highlight our commitment to children. Therefore, we partnered with the Quincy Park District to create and construct Kiwanis Centennial Playground, the area’s first inclusive, all-access playground. The Playground has become so successful that we agreed to tackle Phase II, the Lincoln Park Shelter House. Through these projects, we hope to bring the world of play to many children who may not have otherwise had the chance to experience all there is to being a kid.

Kiwanis Centennial Playground

The playground build is complete and we want to thank all of our donors and volunteers for their support. The Kiwanis Centennial Playground is the area’s first inclusive playground and has provided an opportunity for ALL to enjoy, regardless of any physical, mental or sensory needs. There no playgrounds like this for over 120 miles. This playground has been a huge benefit to the Quincy area community, and has become an attraction for families in the entire tri-state area.

Lincoln Park Shelter House

We have again partnered with the Quincy Park District to tackle our next project, the Lincoln Park Shelter House. This facility will be constructed just east of the Kiwanis Centennial Playground and will feature ADA accessible restrooms, picnic tables, electricity, a water fountain and concrete floors. It is our hope and desire that this facility compliment the playground, while enhancing the park’s ability to serve all populations.

The total cost of the project is $400,000 with the Quincy Park District providing half of the funds. Our goal is $200,000 by the end of summer. Please help us by making a donation today.
